Forever Changed - We all have a national identity, a country we live in, whose culture and certain ways of thinking and doing things create our cultural identity. To many, my identity is English, both my parents are from England and I have lived most of my life here, I therefore have a very English national and cultural identity. However, I also spent 7 years living in South Africa, surrounded by ‘the rainbow nation’, this added to and changed my identity, I even lost my English accent, in a sense changing my vocal identity. When I came back to England I didn’t lose all of my ‘South African’ identity. My time in Africa had a huge impact on me and this is what I wanted to display in this image. I wanted to show how even though I am English, a little bit of Africa will always remain with me and is a huge part of who I am.
