For this project I was looking at the binary concepts of empowerment/disempowerment. I brainstormed what things can empower us and what can disempower us and quickly found myself intrigued by the deceptive and almost paradoxical nature of addictions. I found a desire to delve deeper into why so many fall into the self deception of seeking power sucking addictions in order to feel empowered. In these images I placed my model in the milky water because I wanted this idea of drowning, being all consumed. Addictions can become all consuming and disempowering. However, water is also linked to cleansing... hope.
